This 18k Yellow Gold Orange Sapphire Ombre Band Ring is one of the vibrant creations from Paolo Costagli’s Ombre Collection --a line of fine sapphire jewelry designed to highlight the colors and textures of this well-loved gemstone. A total of 4.86 carats of multi shade oval orange sapphires adorns the 18kt yellow gold band ring which measures 5mm in width. This orange sapphire engagement ring is complemented with the classic Brillante motif --a signature Paolo Costagli design. In the recent years, colored gemstones have been taking centerstage in the world of fine jewelry as celebrities flaunt their collection of sapphires and other precious stones. Most notable among these is Kate Middleton’s engagement ring which was previously worn by Princess Diana herself.
Designed by Paolo Costagli, the Ombre Collection puts the spotlight on sapphires. His inspiration for choosing sapphires in vibrant colors other than the classic blue comes from his beautiful memories of Tuscan summers by the shore. Paolo states that sapphires are the perfect medium for expressing the whimsical allure of the Mediterranean Sea in summer. The stones in the collection were chosen by Paolo in person. To bring out the color and brilliance of the sapphires, he used a reverse-set technique and chose gold in different finishes as the setting. The Ombre Collection is fresh, fun, and youthful while remaining classic.
Sapphires are one of the most popular gemstones in the world. However, it’s surprising that few people are aware that it exists in colorful hues! While the rarest sapphires from Burma, Kashmir, and Sri Lanka are deep blue in color, stones extracted from other parts of the world vary from green to pink and even orange. Apart from the beauty these stones possess, sapphires are also coveted for their enlightening properties especially in the ancient times thus earning their reputation as the Stone of Wisdom.
