Details of This Jewel
An original design by Paolo Costagli, this tanzanite statement ring is a marvelous example of how delightful gemstone jewellery can be. Prong set on beautiful rose gold, a cushion cut tanzanite weighing 4.3 carats is at the center of a thin band that is adorned with pave-set white diamonds. Surrounding the purplish blue stone on all sides are round diamonds, sending sparkle in all directions. The ring’s narrow band was a deliberate style choice to make it comfortable to wear every day and to make it an ideal stacking piece.
Our collection of designer gemstone rings are all original creations of gemstone expert, Paolo Costagli. Created to celebrate the diverse beauty of gemstones, each of the stones featured in this collection are selected with great care as well as expertly cut for maximum color and brilliance. The gems are then set on 18kt gold in various tones, complementing their own colors very well. As with our other collections, our style philosophy in designing these rings is to create jewelry that is as current as the woman who wears it. The result is as presented here --clean lines, proportioned shapes.
Discovered in Tanzania in 1967, tanzanite is a rarity and is quite desirable because of its color, which in certain cases, rivals that of the sapphire. A tanzanite’s color range is a fascinating thing --crystals can go from deep blue to violet depending on the angle from which it is viewed. This incredible color quality is natural to the tanzanite which is classified as a pleochroic, meaning its color changes according to the viewing angle. In order to achieve one’s desired hue and brilliance in a tanzanite, the crystal must be cut skillfully. Heat treatment can also be used to enhance its purples and blues, and to reduce any browns present.
